Men have always had a higher suicide rate than women. But something happens at midlife, and by our mid-sixties we're eight times more likely than women the same age. I don't understand why that isn't a bigger conversation.
A few weeks ago I was recording audio for a project on the phases of a man's life. The camera was rolling while I talked through this part of it. I wasn't making anything for anyone — but when we finished, I knew I had to share it.
I spend a lot of my time with men building deliberate second halves of their lives. I love being part of that. But part of it is watching out for the men who can't see their version of it yet.
Take care, guys
